Welcome to Ely Wine Events - the place to come and meet new friends, enjoy great food and drink and learn a little in the process. These are informal gatherings at some great places in and around Ely, but bringing in a few outside influences to help us on our foodie journey.
Ely Wine Events is hosted by two locals, Teresa and Mark Harrison. Both have spent the last 30 years working in the food and drink industry.
Teresa trained in the meat industry, before moving to the retailer Tesco as Quality Manager. Her career then took her to work with several large food safety consultancies, before setting up as an independent Food Safety Consultant. The latter has meant travelling all over the world inspecting both hotels and restaurants and also food manufacturers, wineries, breweries and distilleries. More recently majoring on food consultancy within the produce industry. This experience has provided her with a great understanding of many food cultures and a diversity of food and drink.
Mark trained as a microbiologist, but decided upon a career in brewing following university. He trained as a brewer with Bass and achieved the highest score in the world in his year of graduation as a Master Brewer. He worked at many large breweries all over the country before moving to Diageo - the largest drinks company in the world where he led a team of innovation experts as the Packaging and Dispense Innovation Director. Here left this company 3 years ago and now runs his own innovation consultancy company.
In more recent times Teresa and Mark helped run the successful Cambridge Food and Wine Society - Teresa as Chairman and Mark as Secretary. The food scene in Ely is progressing fast, with a lot of credit going to the popular Ely Food and Drink Festival held each year in May. Ely Wine Events realises the scope that this beautiful Cathedral City has to offer to the discerning residents of Ely.............so we hope you enjoy the food, wine, beer, spirits events that we will bring you.
